I was thinking of getting a Lyman Great Plains pistol to go with a Great Plains rifle in .54.
Are they reliable and do they shoot well? Also where is the best (cheapest) place to get one? No kits please.

Hi There

Its a great pistol. Mine in .54 likes 2F best.

Hope you get a good buy. :hatsoff:

The Lyman Great Plains pistol is a good one. I have one in 50 and like it alot. Don't know if they're the cheapest but check out Track of the Wolf, they have them.

Got mine at auction -- package deal with a .54 GPR. First time out with a friend of mine from Dept. of Public Safety we were shooting at the dept. range silhouettes. 25 yards first shot in the middle of the head. I like it  .

I sure like mine too. Never had a lick of problems with it. Won the mens pistol woodswalk shoot at Friendship last spring with it. Shoots good enough for me.

Is there any reason to prefer .50 over .54. Just wonderin GrampaJ in NC :idunno:
