I have a good friend who's looking to get into flintlock shooting really wants a .54 cal. Lyman greatplains or investarms Gemmer Hawken hard to find anything but leftys are worst it seems

Agree, tough to find as they do not make them anymore. Does he have a budget in mind? They are not cheap even 8-10 yrs ago.

i found mine at an auction last year for $125. left hand cva hawken fl in 50 cal. the inside of the barrel had surface rust, but i cleaned it up. it shoots great.

Shooting left handed myself, on a commercial rifle, it will be easier to find a left handed 50cal flintlock than a 54cal. My suggestion is to get the 50cal then send the barrel to Bobby Hoyt to have it rebored to a 54cal. It is not that left hand flintlocks 54cal aren't out there, they are just few and far between. Percussion rifles are a little easier to find. I bought a 54cal Lyman Deerstalker left hand flintlock off of Gun Broker about 3-4 years ago. Just a thought to get one a little quicker. DANNY

I saw a GPR flintlock lefty on GB a few weeks ago. Keep an eye out on there, they show up pretty regular. Sometimes a lot of bidders, sometimes no bidders.

Thanks everyone, just missed one on a auction sold for $300.00 ,I thought the investarm gemmer hawken was the original LGP rifle and Pendersoli was making LGP rifle now with changes none in stock of course and only in .50 . Trying to talk him into a TVM . The search continues

Is this person willing to invest in a kit? You have many choices in a left handed rifle if you go with a kit.
