Lawson Arms .40 caliber??

Somewhere, I have a plastic container of brass percussion caps marked Lawson Arms. I don't even recall the name of the town or state.
 
IMO, .40 caliber is an unusual caliber for a commercially made single shot pistol.

Common calibers are .45, .50 and .54.

It could be a custom made pistol. That could be anywhere from poor to excellent in craftsmanship.

In any case, if it goes to full cock, half cock and the trigger seems to work, it's probably worth more than $100 to a man that wants a muzzleloading pistol. :)
 
Dixie Gun Works had a Spanish .40 smoothbore pistol years ago. Like so many things, gee, wish I'd'a got one!
