Just returned from the local range after shooting my new Pietta 1860 36 cal Colt. What a sweetheart. I did not know what to expect due to reading everything others have said, "shoots high, cap jams etc. I was in the bull on the first trigger pull, did not have any cap problems until about 30 shots, then started having problems with the caps sticking to the nipples. I did put Slixprings nipples on and my son, gunsmith, did a complete action job (polished all surfaces, removed all burrs). Very nice crisp light trigger. Overall it exceeded my expectations.

Well done.

To danged cold to shoot up here even in the heated shed (open on the front and overhead heaters are a help 20 deg and and above. I have not shot the rifles in 6 weeks. We are getting there. Couple of pictures on what is keeping me busy right now.

After your mods, why were you surprised? Seems you preempted any of the known issues....or were you referring to accuracy? Thanks for the insight...

As she gets dirtier the caps will stick and the cylinder will start to gum up. I use Pam cooking spray on the cylinder pin after a quick wipe after about 25-30 shots fired. Sometimes I can shoot 50 rounds with no major issues.
