...so I contacted the DOW (now the CPW)about maybe using my license later in the year, and they told me as long as I can hunt now, "no". I said but I can't get up there, the canyon roads are washed out. He said that I still have the availbility to drive around through Blackhawk and Rollinsville. I'm guessing, but I think that might be anywhere from 70 to 100 miles.

Mike
Im 57 and had my left hip replaced about 1.5 years ago. I know the pain you speak of. It took a while but now I sometimes forget I have a replacement hip. It has helped rekindled my desire to hunt. My desire was crushed because of constant pain. I have no illusions of hunting as hard as I once did because of other (heart ) problems. But Im glad I had it replaced. I wished I didnt wait so long.
Even if your desire to hunt does not return at least you can live with less pain with a replacement hip.

God Bless

Nope, all the canyons out of this area are closed. Coal Creek included.
But there is light at the end of the tunnel. I got a letter yesterday from the DOW and they are offering refunds. All I have to do is write a letter.

Good to hear! Take heart, I'm taking my 90 year old grandfather antelope hunting this weekend. :) We'll be in touch about some small game this year.

I have read more than a few of your posts sir and would like to take this opportunity to say thank you. I just got into muzzleloaders this year. I purchased a Lyman Deerstalker that I have been learning about and enjoying making smoke with. I am elbow deep in a GPR flintlock kit and have really enjoyed this first build. It is because of you and the people like you on this forum that I have gotten as far as I have and I say thank you again for sharing your thoughts and knowledge.
