I'm actually asking for someone else, who owns an original 1766/68 musket made at Maubege.

The question is about two stamps, an "M" next to a "V" on the breech, the "V" stamp is also on the barrel bands and other iron parts of the musket.

Are these maker or inspection stamps from Maubege? Or possibly inspection stamps from elsewhere?
