I'd like to know

I'd like to know how much black powder 3f in grains, and how much shot in oz's for a moderate load to use on birds and rabbits. 7-1/2 shot mostly will be used. This would be loaded into a 20 ga. flintlock. The wads are already known.
Simple basic question.

Agreed. That is my standard load. Perhaps 1 1/8 oz. and 80 grains for turkey, moving to #5 shot.

Experiment.
Groups may stay tighter if you have more volume of shot then powder. Don’t be afraid to go to sixty or sixty five grains. Or one and a quarter ounce.
Shoot a soda can at range. Will your shot penitrate? Two holes equal dead bird, squirrel or rabbits.

I use 1oz of shot over 60 or 65 grains of 3f, so the above mentioned 70 grains sounds like good sense.
