How to refinish a Traditions Mountain rifle barrel?

Maybe it is a bad idea, but I'm thinking I might strip the finish on the metal work and barrel on my new Traditions Mountain rifle and refinish it. I'm not sure what kind of finish it has now, but it is like an anodizing of some sort. It marks up pretty easily, and appears to be superficial. It's a great shooter, very accurate, and the finish on the stock is much nicer than other guns of its type. I have refinished the stocks on similar rifles, but this one doesn't need it. The finish on the barrel and other metal work, although better than the bluing we are used to seeing on these production guns, bothers me.
If I wanted to refinish the barrel and other metal work, how should I proceed?

If it's CeraKote or paint, you'll need a sandblaster or paint stripper.

If it's an oxidized finish, sandpaper and elbow grease.

When you remove the finish, order some Laurel Mountain Forge Browner and degreaser. Follow the directions precisely; now enjoy a beautiful rifle. I have two finished that way and both are really pretty. Dale

It is a CeraKote finish. Mountain Rifle

It looks out of place on a reproduction like this, and it marks up very easily. Just leaning it up again a plywood table top in my shop left a mark. I think @Dale Lilly has the right idea.

I read somewhere that acetone will remove CeraKote. Is this correct?
