I am the segundo for the 06 High Plains Regional Redezvous near Chadron NE. We are planing to have a cannon shoot at this event. I have been building and shooting cannons for about 6 years but I have never been to a shoot before. We have a range of up to about 1200 yards to work with with hills and buttes as a back stop. If anyone has any suggestions on how to run a shoot I am open.

I would suspect you would run it like any other muzzleloader shoot, only on a larger scale, also have the shooters spread out a bit from each other... :winking:

You may have to class them in calibers to make it more even, 1 inch and under, 1.25 to 2 inch, ect...

There would also be a mortar group. Targets would be set out at some distance like 200 yards and whoever gets closest wins. If it is really competitive, you'd want to seperate the rifled cannon from smoothbores.
