I found this lock at a gun show. I am not sure if this lock was from a pistol or shotgun. The lock is functional and it is in nice shape. The serial number on the lock is 10. I think it is from 1840 - 1850.

Any ideas?

It certainly appears to be a lock from the right side of a sxs. They were made in that style for a long time, so hard to put a date on it.
