Not really sure of your question, but it appears you have an Austrian Lorenz of the type imported to the US for the Civil War. It also appears to have been plated with nickel or something, that is what is peeling off.
 
thanks gives me some info and a place to start,,was it plated when it was made or after do you know,,and should i clean it or try and restore it,,just asking,,when i cant decide they hang like i find then dirt and all

It would have been plated post war. GAR posts and the like sometimes had it done. I think I'd lightly clean it and replace any missing parts I could.
 
It wouldnt be terribly hard to remove the plating and get back to steel. Either way, if the bores shootable it should be worth a restoration.
