I am sharing this for 2 reasons 1. These are great tools. THANKS :)

and 2. The slipstrop listed above is a great little addition, especially with the flexcut compound. )The strop itself could easily be made, but 14 dollars seemed a good deal for the time it would take.) I really liked the way it has the concave and convex rounds for gouges and triangled points and flats for chisels. It also features a small leather area on each side that is very handy. I am very impressed with the flexgold stick. It rubs on the wood strop and the leather likened to a hard crayon and works the edge very well. It can be gotten separate from the kit.

I have used "yellow stone", jewelers rouge, JB Bore cleaner paste, various buffing compounds (Mil-Spec to Harley Chrome polish...which I am sure is totally un-HC!). The Flex seems the best to date

I tried it to finish polish the above carvers set and then on some E.C. Lyons hand gravers. It worked great. I then tried it on stroping a couple of knives on a larger (2X10) strop and it made "scarey" sharp quite easy. Standard Stanley type chisels came up well also.

I hand cut a couple of custom grooves in the side for some of my smaller hand chisels and gravers...having that extra side space available was also a plus.

These are from Woodcraft
Here's the hot link to the exact pages. I got the 7 piece for my needs... http://www.woodcraft.com/family.aspx?familyid=1338

I forgot the strop hotlink post... http://www.woodcraft.com/family.aspx?familyid=4364

Hope this is of value to some and in the right subject area...

Thanks!

(p.s. I had posted this is american longrifles earlier and wanted to make sure all had a chance to read. I apolgize if any are re-reading it here RL)

Rick,

I'm sure they're good. I bought an almost full set of the palm handled ones from Woodcraft, one at a time, a couple of years ago. Best carving investment I've ever made.
