I've been fighting sighting in a Traditions Deerhunter. I just couldn't get it reliably on paper at 50 yards until I looked at the powder I was using. Hmm. Some old Elephant ffg I've had under the bench for a while. Before leaving the range I stashed what was left of the Elephant in the cannon box and when I got home grabbed a # of the ffg Olde Eynsford I recently bought. Got back to the range today and loaded 65 grains of OE under an olive oil-soaked OxYoke felt wad and a 250 grain REAL. The first was on paper. Cool. The second went down range and when the smoke cleared I was all "What the....where'd it go?" Grrr. So I walked downrange and looked. Oooo! A Figure 8! The third went downrange and made a close cloverleaf. This is more like it! Adjusted the rear sight over to the left a bit and now I can hit the 100 yard 12x16 plate at will. Finally.
Attached is a pic of today's target. :)
