The classic 1842-era H. Aston Percussion US Military .54 cal. pistol is handsome, simple, and solid. I always wondered why no importer/manufacturer ever made a replica. They come up for auction on occasion, and many seem to be in solid shape, probably they were not used in service too much. Any one else feel this way about them?

I’m not familiar with that pistol, but I know exactly what you mean. I believe makers like to stick with what they know will sell. Even still, they mess those up too. I always wondered why makers don’t make exacting copies of originals that people are paying for. Have to send it off to have it defarbed and what not. I’m gonna look up that pistol now though.

It looks like Pedersoli looked into that pistol in 2016, but don’t know what came of it.
