I'm a missionary in Colombia. A friend from another firearms related site sent me a link to an article here on a subject matter of interest to me. Muzzle loaders have been a part of my life going way back. Since I was raised in Brazil I got experience with their variety of smoothbores. Over the years I've owned a variety of charcoal burners but so far only cap locks of one variety or another. It is my intention to build what I call a 'faux blunderbuss' of about 8 bore in the not too distant future. Current black powder weaponry at this time only includes a CVA Kentucky kit rifle that a friend gave me. It was poorly done a while back and I resuscitated it. Anyway, I look forward to learning from the folks here.

HEY!! Glad your here I'm new also. I'v already cashed in on vast amount of experience avalible on this forum. Lots of friendly folks here.If I made a blunderbuss I'd let you shoot it first!! Be sure to update with pictures, yous is not a common project. You are doing good work, keep your head down and be careful. chuckr

Thanks, Chuck. My main problem is in obtaining parts. Have to import them from up north which means I have to find someone heading this way who doesn't mind fitting them into their luggage. So far I have the stock blank, ramrod and barrel. Am cogitating on how to do the breech plug - haven't round anyone who commercially produces an 8 gauge breech plug. TOTW has a good selection on locks, will probably opt for a NW Trade lock or something similar. In the meantime I'll be crawling the forum for info and ideas. Once things start to come together and I get started on it then pics will probably follow.

Hey Paul, great to have you hre!

A blunderbus, eh- sounds like fun!
