Anyone here used the gold striped ticking available at Walmart as patching? My local Walmart might be the only non-Super center left in America and has no fabric section. Since I was at the Lagrange, GA Wally World last week I took the opportunity to look through their fabric section. The only ticking they had was this gold striped stuff. Since it was stout and only $5.00 a yard I got some. Sizing washed out easy, but haven't had a chance to shoot it and haven't bothered using a micrometer on it.

If it works it works. $5 doesn't get you much in these times but it will get you a lot of rifle patches. I have never seen the gold ticking before.

A few years back I bought some heavier ticking that I like but it had brown stripes, just don't ever recall seeing any with gold stripes.

Around here (Raleigh-Dlurham-ish) ... some of the Walmarts have fabric sections and some don't. Some that used to have them don't. I've got my ticking at the Siler City Walmart (remember the old Andy Griffith show?), but not off one of the large bolts -- since that Walmart seems to have no one actually working the fabric section nowadays. I just picked one of the pre-packaged offerings off the shelf. A little pricey, but I wanted to get going on it.

I've also got stuff at Joann's, of course. But just recently I discovered that Hobby Lobby (at least the nearest one) has a HUGE fabric section. But I think I now have enough patch material for the rest of my life, and in multiple thicknesses. Of course, I always take my Harbor Freight digital calipers with me when hunting patch material. 🙄
