Do any ofyou have this rifle? I'm considering one. I had a lyman great plains which I believe is the same. Gemmer may have made a couple very Suttle changes. My concern is metal to wood fit since If I remember correct I read a couple not so great reveiws. I I get one I will go with the kit.
Just want a 50 for fun. May go for deer in the next yr or so but I've pretty much quit deer hunting. Anyway please respond if you own one.

There's been a couple reviews of this gun on here, if you search gemmer hawken, you should find them. I've not owned a Gemmer but have seen several, would rate overall fit and finnish pretty much same as the Great Plains. Same company making them so no real surprise there. 1 review had a problem with the sights I remember but was a shooter, percussion gun though so nothing on flintlock reliability.

I built a left hand version of this kit recently. It was a lot of filing and sanding on the stock to get it into shape, but overall I was happy with it. Now if I could just get out and shoot it sometime!

That looks very nice. Congrats!

The wood certainly looks to be of a higher grade than some European hardwood I've seen.
