For sale: a neat piece of Midwestern American History! This is an interesting mid 1800s, built by George Spangler in Monroe, Wisconsin. Barrel is approx. 34.5 " long, with 1/2" flats and 1" across the flats. Bore is rusty, and appears to have been reamed smooth. Thick barrel walls; barrel might be restorable by capable gunsmith. Mainspring is missing, but other lock parts intact. Bore measures .479. Curly maple stock. Pewter cap. Single sling swivel. Ramp rear sight, but missing ramp. One ramrod pipe is missing. Intriguing front trigger. Very interesting features include a significant drop in the stock ( I can't put my cheek to it and see the sights, requiring me to sight with my cheek off the stock) and it has cheek pieces on both sides. This gun as seen and done some stuff! Various tacks and nails and repair attempts have been made to this piece during its time. Unique piece of Wisconsin history. Not sure how it wound up in North Carolina, but I'm glad it crossed my path.
