Flintlock accuracy, is it me ?

I'm <1 year of flintlock shooting and won't yet take it deer hunting. The rifle is more than capable. The shooter is not.

I took my .62 trade gun out for doves & a session of clays. Hoping to take it out for quail tomorrow if I can. It doesn't seem to be as much of an issue shooting shot on moving targets. But stationary targets & slow, aimed fire is just way harder for me. No amount of wood flint (dry fire) or pan flash practice seems to help yet. My brain knows when there's a powder charge and ball in there and it really wants to brace for the impact.
