I don't know how your kit arrived, but I'm a huge fan of dry fitting everything I can.

Dry fitting allows you to mock up the rifle. It allows you to see wood to metal fit and interferences. If you're mechanically inclined, it should all come together quickly.

Best advice I can give you is to stare at it until it all makes sense. And remember altering one thing can have an effect on several other things. Building a muzzleloader is like playing chess. You need to see down the road several moves before you move a piece.

Good luck.

Just bought a fifty cal hawken half stock kit from jedediah Starr it’s a bit more technical than I thought any tips on getting started or steps to take would be helpful
Congratulations on buying a nice kit. But this one will be a bit more involved than something like a Kibler kit. I could type 5 pages on this. Just take it a step at a time (slowly) and keep you chisels sharp.
