Howdy folks:
Here's that English shot flask that I just finished and needed the screws for. After I was told that Brass screws weren't PC I went to steel screws which a member and friend offered to me.
The job took much longer than I had intended, a month total. I was having trouble getting the exact distance between the stitch lines to wrap around the insert that the customer sent me. I never thought leather work would come down to thousandths of an inch, but it did. It's easy to make a bag then just fashion a plug to fit it, BUT making a bag with a throat to fit exactly around a specific size tube...that's a whole different ball game....for me!
I had 3 failures in total before I got it right; but it's done now and will be on its way to the owner shortly.
I have no idea why I'm showing it here? I decided that I didn't ever want to do this again, so I may be looking for trouble by showing it off? :~)))
The bag is Chocolate Brown 5oz. Veg. tanned tooling leather all hand saddle stitched with the owners Cattle brand burned into the front. That was one request of his....the brand. I was going to make a branding iron, but realized that would take too long, so I burned it in from a drawing he supplied.
So...here ya.' go.
God bless:
