Danish 1772 pattern pistol.

Picked up this large Danish 1772(?) model pistol. It's a fair size, weighing in at 3lb 6oz. Overall length is 20 1/2" with a 13" barrell. Bore is around 5/8ths. Regimental markings on the barrell look to read J C N 28.

I'm curious if the vertical slash inside the C is part of the font.

And the builder used Beech before it became fashionable in Italian reproductions.

Yes, the slash would appear to be part of the font, same as an on earlier pistol I have.

Nice find. Can't help to notice how the overall architecture looks similar to the British heavy dragoon pistol of the period.
