greetings all.

I have made a few knives from industrial hacksaw blades but not from circular saw blades. I use a dremel tool or a die grinder with a cutting disc. I just score the shape that I want and snap it off. Be careful that you don't get the grinder blade caught in the groove you are making because the blade may snap. :cursing: Not Good.

Let me know how the knife turns out.

i do the same thing that half moon ranger does or if you have access to a plasma cutter that will do a great job :hmm:

I agree with the above advise. I've made some from cross cut saw blades and 16" circular blades. The circular are easier to work and take a great edge. Good luck and show some pics when done.

Try to find an old planer blade. Generally a thicker, better quality metal. Cut as mentioned above, slow and careful grinding to shape.

I really live dangerously and cut them with a chop saw then finish grind too shape. Ya have to be very careful so you don`t bind the chop saw wheel in the cut.
Always wear eye protection and heavy gloves and use vise grips to hold the metal.
A die grinder might be safer or a plasma cutter, gotta buy one of those some day.

I've made 6 knife blades from one crosscut saw blade I bought at a flea mkt for a buck. I find a Dremel tool works well.. I score and cut the shape I want and then snap off...the thin blade makes a good patch knife.
