My Pietta revolver is 36 cal. and has a twist of 36" which does not shoot well at 50 yds. How practical would it be to bore it to 40 cal. and 16" twist?
What might that cost?

I would guess that the cost would be more than the gun is worth.
Add to this the fact that the .36 cal C&B revolvers are already rather thin where the chambers come closest to the outside diameter of the cylinder. If you increase the ball size, you will have to reduce the chamber wall thickness.

You didn't say if you had tried some of the suggestions which are given on some of the posts on the Forum like using under-ball wads. If you haven't tried these, they may fix your guns problem.

Your guns chamber diameter is probably a little under the gun barrel groove diameter. Most of the Italian guns are this way.
Some people have found that increasing the chamber diameter .004-.005 improves the accuracy a lot because the ball is then the same size as the groove diameter in the barrel.

Here again, if you increase the chamber diameter, you are reducing the chamber wall thickness so this is not a job to be taken lightly. A good gunsmith is recommended.

do a search and read gatofeo's posts on shooting the percussion revolvers. His instructions may help you.
