I bought a GPR in .50 cal., and I'm really pleased with how it came out. I got my brother to build it for me and it tuned out like a work of art. He's got a good eye for detail though. Also, my rear sight fits perfect. I shot it in my first B/P match last weekend and I took 3rd place. If you buy the kit I guess you have more control over the final fitting and finish of everything. I think that extra wood is there to sand down to make smooth as glass. I love my GPR more than my TC.
