Does anyone have a clue if there are any black powder/muzzleloader shops in or near St Louis??

Need to pick up a few things.

Thanks in advance.

If my memory serves me right Sam and Jacob Hawkin had a gun shop in Saint Louis. That builds black powder rifles. :blah: :blah: I am sure there are others on the forum who might have more up to date info.

Graf and sons in mexico missouri which I think is 2 and a half hours from St. louis. If you call over there be very specific because the girls that work there don't know what they are doing.

Since the old Hawken Shop closed many years ago, as did the Sappington gunshop, I don't know of a store that specializes in black powder, in St. Louis.

I buy powder when I'm in the vicinity of Grafs, in Mexico, MO, and buy the few other supplies I need at events.

Denny Dennis Hardware in Fenton has a few traditional ML items, but mostly modern stuff. However, they have a full line sporting goods store...for those who need full line sporting goods stores. I think they still sell black powder too, though you need to ask for it.

God bless

Depends on what you need, but a Cabelas, Bass Pro, & Gander Mountain, have a few selected BP items on their shelves, tho the selection will mostly pertain to what I call fake BP rifles. But they usually have some cleaning jags, powder measurers, flasks, balls, caps, lube, etc.
But I cannot imagine a place the size of St. Louis not having a BP shop close someplace. :idunno: Find a BP club around there, they can guide you to a BP shop.

Denny Dennis quit selling real black years ago. i live in the St. Louis metro area and am not aware of any black powder specific rifle shop. or any shop that has a good supply of traditional stuff, only modern. Graf's has a small retail reloading store in St.Charles about twenty minutes from STL. they sell real black there (Goex, Graf/Wano) but you better call ahead and check stock as they run out regularly.

This is not near St. Louis but the BassPro shop in Spanish Fort, Alabama (Mobile) has Black Powder behind the counter. You have to ask for it. Maybe one of the BassPro shops or a similar one has it behind the counter. Good Luck

Have not seen Black Powder out on a shelf in 25 years. It has to be kept in a Powder Magazine in a store, as required by all states, to the best of my knowledge.
Some suppliers will have it, but you have to ask for it, as it is in a locked magazine in the back of the store.

I have a customer I have built two rifles for that lives in MO. I will ask him where he gets his & maybe that will help.

I think there is one in St. Charles. That's where the casinos are, right? I think it's called Mike's Guns.
