I'm really surprised I caught this on video! It is the best shooting I've done with this Lyman's percussion pistol. Next week I'll move back to the longer barrel black powder gun videos. Until then....Enjoy:

I have always suspected that is how it was done back in the day. I think sometimes we overthink things and make them more complicated than necessary.

I agree with you......the fellows back in the day didn't complicate things, especially under attack. Load it & shoot it. That was the main thing. Thanks for watching....Awww Man! That was awesome! I gotta try that with my pistol next time I shoot it.

If you put the capper on a short lanyard on your right wrist, you can shave a few seconds off your time. That is what I do for Seneca runs.
I like seneca runs with a flint gun. Running & reloading at the same time is a blast.

Great video! Its crazy how much heat the barrel obsorbs when from a black powder burn that is only in the barrel for a fraction of a second. That must be some extreme heat to be able to heat up a barrel that fast.
It did...it was almost too hot handle! Thanks for watching....
