. Here's a pic of the back side of the lock off of my Tip Curtis rifle. Was the lock made by Pete Allen?
 
I'll will take a guess here and say no and the reason I say this is that lock looks like it was a Siler kit that was assembled by a guy with a metal stamp that used the letter "A" as his mark. I've seen some of Tips flintlocks and also work on a friends "Tip" flintlock with a M/G lock. None of the ones I've seen had a lock with that "A" stamped on it. Just my opinion maybe totally off base with my assessment :hmm: .
 
I think it was molded instead of stamped :hmm: I'm not sure who made it but it's quick and throws a ton of sparks :hatsoff: :thumbsup:
 
It's an R. E. Davis lock. :wink: Whether or not the "A" means Pete Allen, I have no idea.
 
fwiw, I think it's probably a large siler ... but then again, my opinion is free and probablt well worth the price!
