Have picked up what looks like a 19th C percussion pocket pistol repro.the only makers mark i can find looks like the letters AMP inside a diamond (worn), there are spanish proofing info ( 700 kgs and 3 circles)and serial numbers on the barrel. It has a back action lock and a 4 inch barrel which is round on the bottom and octagonal( has 3 flats anyway) on the top.It is smooth bore of about .41 cal and has etched design on barrel and lock (a bit rough), it also has some checkering on the grip.In the absence of a photo does anyone have any idea as to the maker?Would it be safe to shoot with light loads of say 15 to 20gr fffg ( the pistol looks cheap though sound) thanks in advance-zodd

Sounds like you may have a Dixie Gun Works "overcoat pistol". They sold them for years, less than $20 if I remember correctly. Check their catalogs from the 70s. Yes they are safe to shoot.
