Here's an Italian made reproduction of the Colt Pocket Revolver. Like an 1849 Pocket, but with rounded guard and 6 shots instead of 5. The barrel has been cut down by a previous owner and all marks aside from the serial number and the Italian PN proofmark. Bluing and any other cylinder engraving were also removed to make an attractive in the white gun. It has also had the loading lever removed, but at the same time maybe this repro was made without it? There's a hole for it underneath the barrel
, but no provision for a bolt to hold it in. Checkered grips with 3 notches on the right side, hopefully just for show.
Decent shape. Little pitting in the cyclinders. Cycles well. Asking $235 plus shipping within US where legal without FFL. PM if interested.

The 1862 Pocket Navy was a .36 with a 5 shot rebated (like a 60 Army) cylinder. Most likely this is a shortened 1849 .31 cal. It looks like the barrel lug has been modified (see saw marks) which could have removed the loading lever pivot screw.

If you can load the cylinders with the arbor, it's an 1849. I think the first ones came without the loading lever. Then later with the lever. I failed to find one in 6 shot though. It doesn't look like any of the pocket models.

I tried the bolster method, but it wont fit in the cylinders. This one was meant to have the loading lever, but a previous removed it, apparently to then be able to shorten the barrel. It would require a ball starter to load.

So the bolster is larger than the chambers. No idea what ya got there.

Pietta made a .36 cal. 1862 Police revolver which is a total fantasy gun. It is an 1861 .36 Navy with a 5 1/2" barrel and half fluted cylinder. There were no 6 shot Pocket Navies or Pocket Police models. They were all 5 shot guns on the 1849 frame and none of these have any connection with this thread. The gun above is an 1849 (.31) with a barrel cut back to 3" and the lug where the loading lever mounted cut back too so that it slightly resembles an 1848 Wells Fargo. If you enlarge the 4th. photo in the first post one can see the saw marks in the barrel where the lug was cut.

Still can be a fun gun and like one someone might have cut down back in the day.

One still has to wonder where a 6 round 31 caliber cylinder come from.

Looking at the way the wedge pin sets in pic 4, might this be the 1849 barrel fitted to some other frame? A "custom" gun of sorts. It's certainly interesting and probably would be fun to play with.

How's the timing? Everything locks up tight, and right?
