I have a uberti 1849 that needs to visit a gunsmith. Timing issues.

Suggestions needed for a qualified smith to slick her up. Pic just cuz it's pretty.

I am sending my Sherrif model to him for goonerization in a matter of days. HIGHLY recommended by those that have had him overhail their guns,. Hope to fall in line and just may send th 1849 pocket and the 1851 navy as well.

Well, I sent him two colt revolvers, a 3rd model Dragoon and a Walker in November 2018 and he still has them. So it's going on 5 years now. I know his work is excellent so I assume he has a large backlog of work. I don't know what his current prices are.

He is as busy as he can be. Quoted me 4-5 days. Has had it about a month. He does answer calls and texts. I just spoke to him. I'm betting he would get alot more done f I quite calling him. I trust him. NOT a fast turn around but geez, he has a good word following his work!!

Ya, I didnt expect the wait but I really want this one shooting top notch. I believe I will get it in another week or so, then probably send him an 1849 to go over as well.

Just got back from range. Shot my 48 .31 pocket. Frustrating. 12x18 splatterburst target at 30’. Shot 25. Hit target 6. This thing is all over the place. High, low, left right. No consistency. Impossible to dial in because its not like i can compensate by adjusting one way or another. This thing is destined to be a display piece. Ive never had any pistol that is so all over the map. 10g T7, .320 ball.
I love it and hate it. Maybe should sell on GB and buy another. Like a problem child, some things cant ever behave.

I’m wondering how the crown is? They are slinging a very small light lead ball or bullet also. Maybe 10gr is a little light for a charge? What I’m wondering is how did it function? Any problems? If it functions well with no issues it would be worth further investigation as to why the little fella is not accurate. You would be lucky to get another one that functions well without issue!

They may have been designd as a personal protection CLOSE ENCOUNTER pistol. .31 with 10 gr is not gnna stop a guy at the distance your shooting. I know mine is tin can accurate to maybe 15yds. NOT a target pistol.

Spouts i have are in 5g increments. 10 fits, 15 too much.
I know they were made for shooting across a poker table. AZ, yours at 15y is 45’. Mine is all over at 30’. Maybe i asking too much from it. From what i read others are at least marginally more accurate than this one. I going back to range with it Thursday. Maybe i will try 15g but i wont be able to fit a felt wad to prevent chain fire. Maybe try 1 chamber at a time.
Why am I pushing it and concerned. Cause in the great state of Maryland (which i do love, big boat, no better boating than on the Chesapeake) I can’t protect myself with a modern firearm, but i can carry this thing all day with no permit. So i really need it to be somewhat accurate.

If you are carrying this for protection I would do away with the wads anyway. If left loaded for any length of time it will most likely contaminate your powder and cause malfunctions. Find a recipe for a thick lube that won’t melt in Warner weather and put it over the chamber after loading. You could get a bit more powder in the chamber without the wad plus you may find accuracy will increase without it. Not speaking from experience with wads, just what I have read in regards to wads and accuracy. So your gun is dependable and not dropping cap fragments into your action and jamming it up? If it’s not doing that then you are truly blessed!

Going on 5 years, I don't care how good he is that is BS.
