I want to build an 1842 Springfield musket, but the only kit I can find is TRS. Is there any other kits out there? Also if I go with TRS, are the barrels proofed or is that something I have to do?

Traditions sells 1842 kits, which are actually made by Chiappa/Armisport. I see they are in stock at Midway right now.

If you are in a rush, get the traditions kit. You may be waiting a LONG time for anything from the rifle shoppe.
