Did you try Track of the Wolf? That's where I got mine. Oh, you said female...not sure if such exists.

Double nut the threaded end (it's steel and screwed into the brass) and unscrew it like a cylinder head stud or do the more primitive method of grabbing it with pliers and unscrewing it.

The above applies to rod adapters and some cleaning jags. Look for a 12 gauge shotgun jag (may have to reduce the diameter a little).
 
I got one for my Ped Bess from either Dixie or Track. I rarely use it. If out of stock, sign up for backorder. IME Track fills BO most times in 2-4 weeks. Or order some tow and use the worm, which is my preference.
