Hello All,
I have been looking at some of the scale, ACW, field cannon and the big show comes in from the old CVA, and now made by Traditions 1/5 scale Napoleon.
But then I came across this 1/5th scale Mdl 1841 6 Pounder from Dixie. http://www.dixiegunworks.com/product_info.php?cPath=22_106_665&products_id=14078
Does anybody have one?
Who makes it?
Any other places offer it for sale?
Is it authentic? Seems to be better than the Napoleon.
How does it fire, blank and live?
Thank you, Paul.

As you may have found, there are two reviews of this cannon on the Dixie site you linked.

The links in those reviews don't work but the essence of the discussion is the cannon is a non-shooting model not intended to be fired.

"non-shooting model not intended to be fired"
No Sir, I did not see that!
Then why go to all this trouble? Why make something like this, charge over $500, and NOT go after the larger market that may want to fire it off once a year on New years or the 4th????

To make some money? :hmm:

Then, there's always the liability involved.

If you or someone else overloaded it or used the wrong powder type and it exploded and killed you or one of your family the maker would be bombarded by lawsuits. :(

Makes sense, I can see your point. I have a couple of the old CVA Napoleons and have pulled the breech plugs on them, super heavy steel in the breech/chamber area. Not sure you could over load these even w/modern powder! To be a true/scale tube they should be about a one inch bore, right? They are bored to about 69 cal.
Having a Mdl 1841 6 Pounder made as we speak, I,ll put some s pics on here when I get it.
Thanks, Paul
