Track of the Wolf recomends the 3/4" square knapped flints. I have been using them in my .54 GPR flinter for the last eight years, with great results

Great shooying Semi :hatsoff: From a nench, I've squeezed out a few 3/4" groups at 100 yards with my .54 GPR flinter, 530 ball, pillow ticking patch lubed with Ballistol ans 90 grains of FFg Goex. These rifles will do it

    New Pedersoli Frontier Flintlock

My wife bought me a .45 Pedersoli Blue Ridge flinter, about 20 years ago. It eas my first flinter and a real joy to shoot. The factory front sight had a taper to it. While sighting in, the front sight became wider and wider as I filed it down. I installed a silver blade front sight, like...

    Old dixie hawken kit gun

The Dixie Hawkens is the very same rifle as the Cabela's Hawkens. Both are made by Investarms, the company that makes Lyman. Lyman may be able to help with any parts you may need. The twist should be 1 in 48. It will make a fine hunting rifle

    Best Value for the $

Have to agree with a .45. They are sweet and accurate ro shoot. My wife bought me a .45 Pedersoli Blue Ridge flinter when I was shooting competition. Won a lot of matches with it. If you want to shoot both round ball and Maxis, check out the Lyman Trade Rifle.

    lyman or pedersoli??

I have a .45 Pedersoli Blue Ridge flinter and a .54 Lyman Great Plains flinter. Both rifles have fast, relible ignition and are very accurate. By the way, the .54 Blue Ridge has 1 in 66" twist, not 1 in 48. It should boil down to what style of rifle you want. A half stock plains rifle or a...

Why not look at the Pedersoli Blue Ridgr/Frontier in .32 or .36?

    Delay In Ignition

Sub powders have a higher ignition point than real black powder. If you are going to use sub powders, try some #11 magnum caps. Another thing to try is changing your nioole to a Hot Shot or Spitfire nipple: http://www.cainsoutdoor.com/shop/item.asp?item=14128 . They are designed to deliver a...

Took the new GPR to the range this morning

Don't worry about the sights until you have a couple of hundred rounds through and the barrel is broke in. My favorite load for my .54 GPR flinter is a .530 ball, pillow ticking patch (from Wal-Mart fabric) lubed with Ballistol oil and 80 grains of FFg Goex. I have tried FFFg, which worked...

    Kudos to Lyman

I bought a .54 Trade Rifle percussion earlier this year. Finally got a chance to spend some time with it last week. By the end of the day, I was getting clover leaf patterns (all balls touching) at 50 yards. I was shooting .530 balls, pillow ticking patch lubed with Ballistol oil and 80...
