    Chambers Pistol Kit - Anyone build one?

    More info. I would order a .54 cal version, 1/4" vent liner, and a $50 upgrade in wood. My preferred load is a .530 ball, .010 patch, and 30 gr. of FFFg. Some prefer 35gr and a .015 patch. A real joy to shoot !

    I built one a couple of years ago.An outstanding "kit" with great support from the Chamber's crew when needed.The result is beautiful and very accurate.Highly recommended , go slow and measure twice !

    Spring tempering question

    I will add to previous comments-a handy method for tempering small parts is to use the concave bottom of a soda pop can. Place the part in the "dish", fill the dish with motor oil adding a little lighter fluid to aid ignition.Ignite the oil with your propane torch and let it burn up completely...

    Your "Go To" stain ?

    See if you can locate Zonie's post on using lye with a vinegar wash prior to staining.Really gives a nice dark stripe effect in my experience.

    TVM Early Lancaster

    I have a Late Lancaster, 50 cal. from TVM.It is a fine rifle, shoots well.If I were to order another however, I would order an Early Lancaster version as the butt plate shape and angle of the Late Lancaster version just doesnt hang well, in fact its a bit of a chore to maintain proper contact...
