Boy, for this being your first build, your work seems to be very clean and looks to be that of someone with much experience! Wish mine looked that good.

    1860 Army Colt .44

I got a pietta. I just started the whole cap and ball pistol thing about 2 months ago. Ive found that the recommended .454 balls dont get a consistant circle of lead sheared off them on loading. So im gonna try the .457 size.

    1860 Army problems.

I ordered one of those heinie springs. Installed it tonight ignoring the instructions of "installed only by a competent pistolsmith" :hatsoff: . After a light tweaking (the arm that contacts the trigger was just a hair short) I got her back together. Seems the trigger is lighter, and smoother...

    Removing blueing

Is there some chemical out there that strips blueing? I want to say there was a topic on a chemical that did a good job taking blueing off on this site, but cant for the life of me remember what it was called now. Thanks much.

    1860 Army problems.

As some of you know, I got a Pietta 1860 army clone a few weeks back. Everything has been fine until today. All of a sudden there is "play" in the trigger with the hammer down. If I cock it, sometimes the hammer locks, sometimes not. Sometimes it locks at the half-cock position, sometimes not...

    Got to make smoke today!

Well I finally got to shoot my new 1860 army revolver. Pardon my language but DAMN thats a blast! Although I do have to say its no fun loading one of these things when its only 19 degrees out. I wish I had one of these years ago! Pulled the ole Josey Wales and shot a half dozen...

    Cap and ball pistol questions.

Well I got my new pietta 1860 army today. Awesome, hefty piece of hardware. Cant wait to shoot it. A few questions. Ive been just playing with it here in the living room. The fit of all parts seems great (but im no expert) and it seems to function properly. I keep hearing of "timing"...

    BP Revolvers

Thanks for all the info guys. After doing some research, checking out the sites put forth on here, ive come to really like the looks at least of the steel frame colt 1860 Army and Navy models in .44 and the steel frame 1861 Navy in .36. I read the '61 has a better "feel" to it than the '60...
