    Nipples

I normally remove the nipples after shooting and clean them out of the cylinder. All the nipples have been replaced with SlixShot in all my pistols. Well last time out when I went to re-install the nipples one wouldn't start on my Pietta 1858 New Army. All the Colt replicas were fine. I bought a...

    Just an opinion

Went out to our range after getting my mower running again. I need to use a wagon to take all five pistols (plus a .22 and a Ruger GP-100) along with gear to the range. Anyway, I digress. First time I had them all together and shot them all one after the other. And I found out that will I love...

    Why no wooden Colt grips

I've been trying to purchase a set of wooden grips for either Pietta or Uberti for over six months but no one has any. EMF doesn't even have any listed and Taylor & Co. always has them on backorder. Just wondered if anyone else is expereincing the same?

    Round Balls

I hope this okay, if not I won't feel bad if it gets deleted. So for those in the market for round balls I just bought 400 Hornady .375 round balls for $50 shipped to my door. Everyone else was wanting $14 to $17 oer one hundred plus shipping. But MidSouth Shooters had them for $8.56 per box of...

    screwdriver set

Hello I'm looking for a good set of gunsmithing screwdrivers. I have a Chapman set and it works for most things but I'd like a dedicated screwdriver set. So far I've found a Grace set and a Foster set that may or may not be hollow ground. It appears the Foster's may be but there is a question...

Please talk me out of a 1861 Navy

    Help I did it again

Dang I just got a Uberti Navy London 1851 about a month ago and was happy and figured I was good. Then stupid MidwayUSA goes and has the Pietta 1860 Army for $279 with free shipping. Who in their right mind could pass that up. A new 1860 Army shipped for less that $300, I just couldn't help myself.

Questions on arbor with new 1851 Uberti London model

I know not again huh. So I just got this Uberti 1851 Navy London model and I know Uberti's have an issue with short arbors. But does that include the London models? I have to ask because I can get my barrel on enough to check against the frame. It's just ever so slightly, just a smidgen a past...

I was happy with my Pietta

That was until I got my new Uberti 1851 Navy London. As you can see the Pietta on top with the Uberti on the bottom how different the grips are. I find the Uberti grip much nicer.

    Woodsrunner pre-orders

Just got an email from Kiblers and they are taking preorders for their new rifle the Woodsrunner. It looks nice. If I wasn't in the middle of building a new PC I'd look into buying a kit to build.

    Kibler SMR ramrod issues

I was wondering if anyone else has issues with the ramrod holes on their SMR? I purchased two additional rods from Kibler and had to sand them down a lot to get them to work with m SMR. But once I put the ramrod ferrule on the rifle I now can't get the rod to go into the hole bored in the stock...

    1861 Navy

Hello all, I thinking of getting an 1861 Navy. So far I purchased two revolvers and 1851 Navy and a 1858 Remington both are Pietta's and I want to buy a 1861 Navy but I notice the Pietta is an 8in barrel. So now I'm concerned with whether I should pursue that purchase or not. I know it's just a...

All paid up just waiting for barrels

Ordered a Kibler SMR I think in July when they were offering “order now- pay when shipped” I paid the lock in August but just paid the rest today. I talked with Lorie and she says they are still waiting on .45 barrels. Just thought I’d pass that along to anyone else who’s ordered a .45 barreled gun.

    Jerry Fisher Inletting Scraper

I'm looking to purchase an inletting scraper for when my Kibler SMR gets here. But I'm not sure which one would be best or do I need all three? The Octagon 1" x 1 1/16" or the round large 1" x 3/4" or the 1/2" x 5/8"? Or do I need all three? Thanks

I'm going to get a flintlock but what Caliber?

You may or may not be familiar with my thread about whether I should get a flintlock or not. Well, I’ve decided I need to get one. But that has only the beginning of my quandaries. I’ve narrowed down my choice of rifle to a Kibler SMR. But I’m just not sure which caliber I should get. I started...
