    Sleep deprivation......

and shooting! On my recent trip to my son's camp in Coalgate Ok. to deer hunt....I had something happen that had never occurred previously concerning the use of iron sights. Let me digress! The day before Thanksgiving or rather the night prior to Thanksgiving day I only got two hours sleep as on...

    Sight setting....

session with three different rifles 100 yard distance. The shots NOT toward center was when I was tapping front or rear sight and or cutting down the front sight. All using 100 grains KIK 2F BP using .018" pillow ticking w/Canola oil for lube, 50 and 54 caliber Hornady swaged RB. IMG_1933 by...

    Come on November!

Haven't fired a shot in a few months and won't until it cools down in November! Heat index is a smooth 110F right now here! If the USA needed an enema.....it could be inserted half-way betwixt Monroe and Baton Rouge Louisiana anytime during July August September or early October!!

    It appears that…..

some folks go to supreme efforts to make trouble for themselves concerning dry balling, getting manure stuck in their barrels whether or not tools or whatever type of projectile they wish to shoot! I’m of the opinion that READING before hand prior to DOING would solve many of these issues because...

    Nipples…..

apparently aren’t all the same size-wise! Time before last I was wondering why I was having ignition problems with my GRRW Hawken and it was because the nipple in place was too big such that the cap didn’t fit as it should! Changed back to an older nipple and it fired every time!

    ??????....

are Musket nipples same thread size as #10 percussion nipples?? Thanks!

    Donation

I made a $50.00 to supposedly this forum but the receipt did not state to The Muzzle Loading Forum; rather another name was used! My bank does not honor Pay Pal and I will not make another donation using anything remotely connected to Pay Pal!

    If only....

1858 Pietta New Army Percussion .44 Revolver

Can the #10 size nipples on this revolver be changed out with #11 size nipples without having to rethread for #11 nipple size?

    Donate

Was going to donate to forum this AM but it says I have to have an account with Pay Pal! My bank does not consider Pay Pal to be on the up and up....got a letter from bank a while back and they will not honor Pay Pal! Was going to use my credit card but the notice stated that even though I was...

    Accuracy

You don't get it by doing what someone said "concentrating upon the target"! If I were going to teach how NOT to be accurate that's what I'd say do! You gain accuracy by watching and concentrating upon the front barrel sight! The eye cannot focus upon two different objects at the same time...

    Flintlocks aren't accurate.....

75 yards! .54 Hawken Flintlock by Sharps Man, on Flickr Three shots....not 8-10 and then the others cut away! This rifle continues to amaze me doing this kind of thing. 100 grains KIK 2F powder with a .530 Hornady swaged RB. Oh...I forgot to add....that's 5 shots!

    So....I'm stupid!

Made a post few days back concerning problem I was having with my GRRW .54 RB rifle snapping using the caps I had! Seems it was leaving some residue inside the nipple and I was having to pull the nipple and clean out with a punch. Well...as it turned out...part of my problem was I discovered...
