    Cabela's 54 cal Hawken

My son wears contacts and has no problems at all shooting pistol, rifle and shotgun.

    Cabela's 54 cal Hawken

Pretty much all iron sights are hard on my 72 years old eyes. My distance vision is still very good just can't see close up. I can't shoot with my bi-focals so I don't wear my glasses when burning powder. I consider myself lucky that I can shoot just under 3 inches at 65 yards with patched ball.

    Minie Question?

Best I've been able to do before loading gets real hard is 5 shots.

    Cabela's 54 cal Hawken

Thanks for the information guys. Cowboy, that looks a lot like my rifle except for the brass trimmings and patch box. I enjoy shooting mine as much as I do my 1863 Zouave 58 cal.

    Cabela's 54 cal Hawken

It's been a while since I've shot my ML rifles. I was wondering if anyone can shed light on the ML listed in the title. The rifle is Italian made and has wonderfully done checkering on the wrist and forearm. Stock is light colored walnut and sports a rubber recoil pad. All metal is blued or...

cleaning the very bottom of the bore.

I have the caliber specific brass scrapers that I use in my rifles.

    Nice to just go shooting

I hear ya! My last trip to the club range in Dublin Ga, it was 92 degrees. Thank God the firing points are covered. Tom

    Prelubed RB Patch

I'm using .018" ticking for 54/58 caliber so I'm good to go there. I also use an OP wad. My recovered patches look like the could be fired again so I'm getting a good seal. I buy my patches dry and pre-lube them all with Ballistol, storing them in a zip lock baggie.

    Change Zoave sights ?

My solution was a little different, I had a piece of scrap sheet steel that was about 1/32". I cut out a sight in the rough shape I wanted and then filed down the front sight to the base. I then Dremeled a groove in the center of the base and epoxied the sight into the groove. Next...

Changing barrels on a T/C Hawken?

I've been using Ebay for quite some time and recently won a 50 cal TC barrel the seller said was recently re-blued and had a nice bore, getting it for $100 and shipping. The barrel arrives packed like Fort Knox but when I looked it over carefully I noticed there was no rifling left in the...

    Rookie Mistake

    Excellent idea!

    Prelubed RB Patch

How critical is it to get the ball exactly in the center of a pre-lubed/cut patch? I'm really anal about centering the ball on the patch. Tom

    Using Barricade?

I agree. I started using it after reading numerous recommendations on this forum. Tom

    Inaccurate TC 50 cal barrel

Turns out the barrel from Ebay is a total POS. No rifling for at least 1.5" back from the muzzle and it's pitted. My original barrel is pristine compared to this tomato stake. It's going back to the seller and I'm getting my money back. This is the first time I've had a problem on Ebay...

A little out of season, but thought I'd share

If I could talk my wife into it, I'd move back to New Mexico in a New York minute! I have to admit, the bear I got was with a 30-06 hand load rather than muzzle loader. Tom

    nitre blue - nitre substitute

+1, been using it for years. Best results require heating the part. Tom
