    Sweet Pea & Squirrels

    Well I had my .32 (Sweet Pea) out shooting last week getting ready for Sept. 1st NY Tree Rat season. Last year was pretty much a wash out and only got a few. Hoping to get a bunch this year for some stew. Got the Hickory and Acorn trees all picked out now all I need is Squirrels.

    Coconut Oil for patch lube

    Has anyone tried using coconut oil for a patch lube. It is very slick and seems to penetrate fabric quickly.

    Lead For Smooth Bore Balls

    I cast my own balls and use pure soft lead for my rifles. I was thinking that because the lands are not there to press in to the ball it seems to me that most any lead should work well for a smooth bore. Any thoughts?

    Flints in Oil

    A long time ago a flintlock shooter told me he soaked his flints in oil to make them less brittle.He said he got much better life from his flints.Back then I only shot percussion and wasn't interested but now that I am shooting flintlock he has me thinking.Does anyone else do this.

    Why are .32 powder loads different

    The powder loads in a .32 have always puzzled me. In most calibers a powder load the same as the caliber would be a light charge. In a .32 it is max. Does anyone know why. Not trying to sound like an ass but I am looking for a answer not a it could be. There has to be a reason. :idunno:

    Euroarms .456 Ball Mold ?

    I picked up a Euroarms, .456 double ball, solid brass mold today. It has never been used and the fit and finish look really good. has any one ever used one.

    NY Squirrel

    NY squirrel season is about a week away. It should be a good year. Lots of nuts and fruit to fatten up on. Sweet Pea my .32 cal is itching to get some meat and Foxy my .62 smooth bore says she wants equal time. Since I am retired this year I think I can keep them both happy.

    Best Round Ball Mold

    I have a .495 round ball mold that I am not satisfied with. The balls come out mismatched and out of round.Who makes a really good quality round ball mold that will make a consistently shaped round ball.

    How Often Nipple Replacement

    I took my nipple off the gun today and was shocked to see how much it had burned out. I would like to see how often shooters replace there nipple.

    .62 Patch & Ball

    I would like to hunt deer with my trade rifle this year. My question to the guys that shoot smooth bore accurately is do you use just powder, patch and ball or do you use any wadding with the patch and ball.

    1860 Army Cylinder Jamming

    I took my 1860 CVA .44 cal to the range for the first time yesterday. I am shooting 30 grns of FFF Goex with a round ball. After 8 shots the cylinder jammed.I think the problem is with the wedge. It seems that it gets tighter after shooting for a while. Anyone got a solution for this.

    I have used wads between the powder and patched ball but don't understand using a wad over the ball. Can someone explain.

    Single Triggers

    I am looking at some single triggers. The Davis model 007 and the Bivins model 0210 both look like well made triggers. Does anyone have a preference. Why.

    Patch Problems

    I have been thinking about getting a .32 or a .36 for small game. My question is does the .32 have the distance accuracy of the .36 for shooting a woods walk. I'm not too concerned about using a cleaning patch between shots but I would like to shoot out to 50 yards.There is a big difference...
