If you could have only one rifle Caliber?

    Ditto !

Velocity decrease with increase in vent size?

That speaks volumes. I put a flint in the gun, try it once to check spark and it never gets dry fired after that. I have better things to do than piddle fart around wondering about trivial things like this, as it has absolutely no bearing on the grand scheme of things. I have complete faith in...

Velocity decrease with increase in vent size?

Your tests will be inconclusive. Every flint is different and with that being the case, a valid test just can't happen.

    Russell Means interview

I don't think standing up for your peoples rights and bringing attention to the wrongs done to your people makes him an activist. Link

Velocity decrease with increase in vent size?

That would happen if you don't plug the vent. I always put my pick in the vent hole, then load. No powder loss. Personally, I like a large vent hole. It gives me good ignition and the guy next to me also. :haha:

    Tools of the Buffalo Hunter

Tell you what Ron, you and I will never be in agreement on it's use but it's been an enlightening debate. I'm sure it's a finely crafted piece though. Take care.

    Tools of the Buffalo Hunter

That's all fine and dandy except how does it prove that this style was known as a "Buffalo Skinner" as you state on your web site? What documentation are you using? Hanson's book, The Frontier Scout and Buffalo hunters sketchbook shows good examples of the knives used by buff hunters. No where...

Can we see some Vent Picks..?

Here's one I made awhile back along with the brush. Since the photo was taken, I've lengthened the point of the pick.

    Steel wool?

Check to see if the rough spot happens to line up with one of the under rib screws. Hope that it isn't. If it's a rough spot only, not a screw sticking through, a scotch brite pad will work better than steel wool in my opinion.

    Tools of the Buffalo Hunter

You don't have the market cornered on butchering buff or other large game. I've done many as have others. Just because the original knife this one is patterned from was in a beaded sheath doesn't mean it was used in the manner described. When the term "Buffalo Hunter" is used, one generally...

    Tools of the Buffalo Hunter

Cool photo and neat stuff but I just can't see a buff hunter carrying such a large heavy blade when a Russell skinner would of been better suited to the task.

Great job keeping the old girl shooting! Guns are made to shoot, not collect dust on a wall.

    The Davenport Formula

When I signed up here I thought it would be a fun place to learn and share things.I was incorrect. Name calling and the constant trouble making by a few have ruined it. Biggs you know or should know better than that. :bull: I'm done reading this manure.
