Mousetrap?

Anybody ever seen this before? It's supposed to be a patent from 1882 but I kinda doubt that it's legit.

Looks like maybe from the Tom & Jerry cartoon.

Best check Rube Goldberg designs. It may be one of his. Though, I have seen a flintlock door alarm.

I saw that many years ago

I thought about building a working model

I thought about that when a couple of rodents were in the last home and were smarter than the mouse trap. The hole in the wall or floor was the deterrent to using them for needed target practice. (Eventually they were gone).

Can try finding one of these by Dixie Gun Works.

I have one of those Dixie Mouse Killers ! They are a blast ! Literally…. A ton of fun.

Dixie Gun Works used to sell these back in the 70's. I was just getting started in firearms again having woken up from my anti-gun phase (female inspired). I wanted one of these badly, but was purchasing by need over want. By the time I could afford one, Dixie was out of stock and never got any more. I am still heartbroken and distraught. Sniff.

I have seen other trap guns, but not a mouse gun! I'll look for the one I saw at Devil's Tower.

Here it is. I think it was for coyotes. Meat on the hook, try to pull the meat and the trigger is released.

Looks like some type of Govn’t funded research project..,probably require a modest staff of assistants, three or four years funding, industry consultants, and an Ivy League PhD ..

There were quite a few variations over several hundred years. Some were deadly, others merely alarms, still others shot gas - cyanide/cs/rock salt/?. Outlawed in Missouri many, many years ago. "Alarm Guns" also.

Those definitely exist, Dixie gunworks used to sell something like that.

I've managed to take out 16 mice from under my front porch, some were shot others were trapped, but there's two big ones that seem to be too smart to come out when I'm there, and smart enough to avoid traps.

I've considered making something akin to that using a camera and remote "detonator". Stick it under the porch, and when the camera senses motion in front of the barrel, it would trigger the shot. That way the mouse wouldn't have to actually step on a trap, all he has to do is cross a line.
