I need some recommendations for a beginner's gunsmithing screw driver set. What manufacturers are good? How many different sizes do I need? I don’t want to spend more than $100.

Unless you have the skill and equipment to make your own precision screwdrivers you will be better off in the long run to buy a quality set of screwdrivers. Example: purchase a heat treat oven / or the knowledge to use a torch and have one with tanks of gas, purchase some high carbon steel, some good files, maybe a grinder, hacksaw, hand drill or drill press, cutting tools to shape the handle and the hardwood for the handle.

You can also buy old screwdrivers at flea markets and grind them to shape - this is where the grinder comes into play.

For me I would only make my own screwdrivers if I need something special. This is why I purchased the Wheeler $85.99 gunsmithing screwdriver set. It has EVERYTHING for me to do what I want, and I only use them for gunsmithing and not for opening paint cans :ghostly:.
