as a matter of interest i get all my tow by picking up old english saddles that have a broken tree they are stuffed with a couple of pounds of tow and you get two saddle flaps that are great for knife sheaths plus a couple of square feet of thin stuff if you cant get a saddle a saddler should carry it for restuffing

There was an epic poem written in seventeenths century about bird hunting, and another about a century later that was a discussion between two men written down as one taught the other to hunt fowl.
One of the two wanted one to use old saddle stuffing

Sorry to keep this topic drifting but where is this event and is it open?
Sorry Rich, I have been traveling. It is open to all. The location is 801 MeadowView Rd Canton Main, you access the site via Hathaway Hill Rd in Livermore. Try google earth, also go to www.theancientonesofmaine.com
And for Nessmuck the inner bark of an ash tree makes good tinder.
