    Williamsburg Bess Photos

Correct. For a time, CW even sold them but had stopped circa 1985-86. That's where my musket came from (Navy Arms), it was one of two leftover Pedersolis from that job. New in the box. Still kicking myself for not buying the second one.

Price check: M1840 musket - percussion smoothbore

I can't thank all of you enough for your insight and expertise. To address many of the comments, here's a new batch of photos that should provide more details. There does appear to be a forearm splice, and evidence of wood refinishing. The wood profile under the front band is suspicious, but...

I recall the primary difference is the front sight, which would make this a re-enactor.

Price check: M1840 musket - percussion smoothbore

Any estimates on approximate value? Percussion, appears to be a conversion done in antiquity. I understand this is a "Remington" style conversion, more desirable than the Belgian or cone conversions. About 69 cal smooth-bore, ramrod doesn't look original. Sights are mounted on the barrel bands...

    Traditions Muzzleloaders

I have the Pennsylvania rifle by Traditions. I bought it as a shootable classroom pass-around. For this purpose, it fit the bill perfectly. I do take issue with a recent claim that it was accepted as historically accurate by a revolutionary reenactment party, this has never been substantiated...

    Pistol Model

Check the wall thickness under the nosecap screws. I had one in flint a while ago, I recall they drilled those holes deep enough that there was only about 0.080" barrel thickness left.
