New Muzzleloaders and have some questions

The proof markings are on the bottom on the barrels so you'll need to remove them from the stock. You'll need to tap out the two or three wedge keys and the barrels will slide off. Usually there will be a number either 4, 6, 8, 9, 10 ,11 ,12 , 14, 16, 20, 24, 25, 26, 28 or 32 these numbers...

    Will a T/C Hawken Barrel fit a T/C Penn Hunter Stock ?

Just yesterday an older couple was doing a yard sale and were selling some old stuff including muzzleloaders and other boom sticks. He had some CVA but he had one T/C Penn Hunter Rifle Octagon to Round 32" barrel and a .36 cal 29" Hawken Barrel both are flintlock barrels and before I bought them...

    Thompson Center Hawken question

    Thompson Center Hawken question

I have been looking for a muzzleloader for some time now. Stopped in my local shop as I usually do twice a month and saw that he had a flintlock rifle on the rack. It is a .45 Caliber Thompson Center Hawken with a 29"x15/16" barrel at least that is what is said on the tag. It is very clean...

    Question for the flintlock crowd

Interesting, would a rifle of a length say .45 caliber with a 50" barrel be even worth purchasing? If I ever come across one in the future that is. Or are the negatives outweighing the positives with small caliber and long barrel ?

    Question for the flintlock crowd

Not trying to contradict you in any way but dont abnormally large charges tend to burn out your patch ? Also that fits the description perfectly. "Chunk Gun" that is, the old man said the rifle weighed in at roughly 13 pounds he believed.

    Question for the flintlock crowd

I was talking to a few older gentlemen about old muzzleloaders and we got on the topic of "Over the Mountain" barrels. Like the ones that are 50"+. One of the older gentleman said when he was growing up in Tennesee before moving to Baltimore he said there was a man in his 50's with a 55" barrel...

    Choice of smoothbore flintlocks

I originally wanted to start with a percussion military rifle but enough feedback from forum members suggested flintlock and even more suggested smoothbore as to be able to hunt everything with one firearm. I got to work looking for some and found two sellers. Both smoothbores are amazing...

    Question for the Percussion hunters

I see you have a point. I just can't see why someone can justify being an a$$. Why couldn't the comment just be "Maybe its just your rifle" or " Look at your sight settings". Even better it could've answered your question. I have only been a forum member for a little under a month and I've so...

Looking to start out with a Percussion rifle

I live in Darlington, Maryland in Harford County. I have about 10 lbs of 2F powder and about 6lbs of 3F powder. I have No.11, No.10 and Musket winged caps all on hand in ample supply.

    Question for the Percussion hunters

I've seen many of your replies to posts on here before. You are a very negative person when it comes to people's posts. Why does it matter to you who spends what time at the range. Clearly it appears Smoothbore is asking wether or not anyone has experienced his problem with his conversion rifle...

Looking to start out with a Percussion rifle

I orignially wanted a nice flintlock however due to my not using a Muzzleloader in about 10 years I will start with a Percussion first. I have been really interested with getting a rifle for deer hunting, even more so I have been interested in getting a military arm. I have been thinking on a...

What is a good length for an American longrifle ?

Ive never owned a flintlock but I ve done some plinking with my grandfather's rifle and they should generate a decent flash. The one in my shop lit up nice but it was muzzle heavy. I dont know if I should go after it now. Im kinda kicking myself cause another user here stopped in the same shop...

What is a good length for an American longrifle ?

There is one of the Dixie GW Tennesee Mountain Rifles in a shop near me Ive been thinking on buying. However, another user posted about buying the exact same rifle that was in a shop near him and everyone in that thread has stated them as terrible rifles. I thought the rifle looked good was a...
