    Pedersoli Rust Brown Barrel?

I am no expert, while I am satisfied with my Pedersolies I am not convinced they don't shortcut the Browning. Comparing mine to some home builts; the ho.e builds are much more natural, not so 'clean' in appearance and definitely more 'appealing' in my opinion. I bought mine back around...

    Pedersoli Rust Brown Barrel?

Just curious; what powder do you shoot? I have somewhere between 2 and three thousand round through mine and it looks Nothing like that! The touch liner on yours looks like it's melting...

    Pedersoli Rust Brown Barrel?

After all these years it is 'scratched' but I see no 'chips' or bare spots. They were not listed 'bargin basement'. I got them back when they mailed them right to my door (in California no less!). Both are good straight shooter and give not troubles at all. I think the current flint on the...

    Olde thyme photos

Oh, here is a scan of one of our Tintype photos...original on tin is not quite so bright as the scanner is not 100%, I think this was at a Civil War classy dress party or maybe a Victorian event...never know when a tintype or collodion photographer might show up (amazing process!) This on is on Tin

    Olde thyme photos

Best old thyme photos the wife and I have are some Tintype photos that used to frequent events, but I haven't seen any lately. We even found some Civil War antique frames (frames cost more then the photos!) To put them in. We have half a dozen or more around the house now. But for home brew...

How many of you dry your revolver in the oven?

Well sheek howdy! Then let me repost my 1865 Springfield I was told we don't talk about here and have a discussion or two. And if men back in the day did just view their firearms as nothing more then a "hammer" then why was Hugh Glass so bent on getting his rifle back; I mean like, wouldn't the...

How many of you dry your revolver in the oven?

Oh heck, I thought this was the Muzzleloader forum and we think in Early 1800 and back. Now we're talking 'late 1800' and Cowboy, cattle hands  But I still bet a fur trapper in the hills didn't think "The company" will just issue me another gun and horse before them charging Indians reach...

How many of you dry your revolver in the oven?

I stand corrected! No, I have not seen any 100 to 200 year old original firearms in pristine condition; just hunks od steel and wood that have hammered many a steaks and shoes many a horse :horseback:

How many of you dry your revolver in the oven?

So what you are saying is that men back 'then' are like some people today and use their firearms as a hammer? Sorry but I must disagree; seldom is a hammer used to defend your life against attacking Indians, Red Coats, highway men....and seldom was a hammer ever relied upon to put meat on the...

How many of you dry your revolver in the oven?

How did they clean firearms before the invention of ovens and dishwashers? My oh my, they must have just let them rot out and go buy another one! All these new fangled do-dads...in my opinion are more hassle then they are worth; that and have dumbed down society and made people lazy. I will...

    Cleaning jag getting stuck

The 'reason' is posted in his description: .495 ball with 10 patch (I presume ".10" patch..but even if he meant to say .01 patch) The ball + patch should = barrel caliber Otherwise you will have a lot of pounding to drive it in. Then; a 50cal jag would not be considered "too big" however...

    Cleaning jag getting stuck

Let's back up a moment. Look at 86Dragon's post above! I shoot 50cal too. You ball and patch are too big; for a beginner, some hard core shooter may tell you otherwise - don't listen to them. Start with a .49 ball and a .01 patch. Or make it easier and go .485 ball and a thicker patch. Now...

Went back to water - cleaning woes and foes

So much over thinking, so much over prepping. I too used to make a chore out of cleaning, I too hated getting water on my stock, under the barrel, into to trigger assembly; tried all the 'hoses' and pumping water up and down with a tight patch (even did a hillbilly comedy skit about it). Got so...
