    Jammed nipple

I had the same thing happen to an old GPR I bought used. A buddy of mine suggested this, and it sounds crazy but it worked. Get ya a can of the compressed air that you use to clean dust out of electrical components. Turn the can upside down and spray the nipple. This will freeze the metal into...

    Pan Primer

I use 3F in the pan also. It doesn't draw moisture quite as bad as 4F does on those damp days.

    Cap Shelf Life

I have had no problems with my caps, other than having to knap 'em every now and then.... :: Seriously, I have some Remington caps that are over 10 years old, and you'd never know it.

    Fire Starting

Most times a feather was used to mark a touch hole as the rifle being loaded. I have used my pan at several Rendy firemaking stations, as they expect you to drag the kit out. I agree that most likely rifles weren't unloaded and used as such, but when they say "make fire" you make fire!

    Fire Starting

I have laid my char cloth in the pan of my rifle lock, (gun unloaded, of course) What better way of getting spark?

    Which lyman to purchase

I totally agree with the Lyman choice. I have the GPR and absolutely love the rifle. The option for barrel interchangeability from 1 in 60 to 1 in 32 is a major plus!

Traditions PA Pellet - Useable or Junk?

Thanks for the October Country tip. I wasn't aware of them. My last few orders from TOTW were ok, but not as good as they used to be. That's what's good about going to Friendship. You can pretty much handpick the ones you want, and the prices are pretty competitive. English flints are pretty...

    clp patch lube

When shooting a conical, they will also help to reduce leading, by protecting the bullet in the same manner as they protect the patch.

    clp patch lube

Thanks Buckknife! Great forum with a vast amount of good info! The Wonder Wads can be found at alot of online ML stores. I purchased mine at a small local gun shop in my hometown. You can get em here . That's about the going price. I've noticed more consistency as far as my accuracy goes too...

    clp patch lube

Buckknife, have you ever used an OxYoke Wonderwad on top of the powder? I use the unlubed ones in my .45 and .50s and they work great. I've also used about a 30gr. charge of Cream of Wheat on top of the powder. It acts as a buffer, and will prevent burnt patches also.

    Shot snakes

That whole flap lifts up, same as the front flap, and there's another pocket underneath for patches, extra shot cards, etc. It really works pretty well. As far as English or Irish ends,,,,good question. Irish is all I've seen used in our groups, but I'll do a little research. Thanks!
