Fine contemporary .54 halfstock percussion rifle made by unknown builder. Browned 31" , 1:66 octagon rifled barrel with floral chisel engraved breech and muzzle. German silver blade front sight and rear buckhorn sight. L&R percussion lock with double set trigger. German silver engraved sideplate. Curly maple half with German silver polished and engraved hardware including a beautiful 4 piece patchbox 6 piercings and an Eagle finial holding inlaid wire banner. Patchbox is floral engraved along with most hardware. Stock has 10 silver inlays featuring a heart shaped saddle plate inlay with wire work cross hatching. Stock has carved floral pattern and Federal style German silver Eagle with wire banner. Pewter nosecap and striped hardwood ramrod. The buttstock appears to have split along grain during the build and was expertly repaired. Undoubtedly stronger than natural grain. The numbered copper tag seems to indicate it came from a large collection. A true masterpiece and a bargain. $1400 + Shipping.
